Terms of Service
The Bottom Line
The Work State is an independent publication, not an employer or a recruiter. We place nobody, we guarantee no interview and no offer, and the pay figures here are drawn from published sources rather than promises. Acting on anything you read here is your decision, and the outcome is not ours to control.
Acceptance of Terms
By accessing and using The Work State ("Company," "we," "our," or "us"), you accept and agree to be bound by the provisions of these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these Terms, you must immediately cease all usage of this website. We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time without prior notice, and your continued use of the platform constitutes your binding acceptance of such modifications.
Nature of the Service
The Work State writes and publishes its own articles about pay, hiring practice and workplace risk. We are not an employment agency, headhunter, recruiter, or employer. We place nobody, we run no application process, and we guarantee no interview and no offer. Naming a company in an article is reporting, not endorsement of that company or of its employment practices, and we assume no liability for the Equal Employment Opportunity compliance, affirmative action obligations or hiring practices of any organization we write about. Employment-related liability rests with the employer.
Third-Party Links
Our articles cite their sources, and following one of those citations takes you to a third-party domain: a federal agency, a regulator, a professional body, a filing, or an employer's own published material. You acknowledge and agree that we exercise absolutely no control over these external entities. We disclaim all liability regarding the availability, accuracy, or safety of external links, and anything you send to a third party is governed exclusively by that party's own terms.

Any salary figures, compensation ranges, or market data provided on The Work State are good-faith estimates provided for informational purposes only. Wage figures come from one of two places, and each article says which. Most are federal data, chiefly the Bureau of Labor Statistics, with the release named in the text. The rest are pay ranges as advertised by employers in a sample of listings we compiled for that analysis; those articles say so, and say that the listings are no longer public. These figures do not constitute a guarantee of actual compensation. Final pay and benefits are a matter of negotiation between you and the employer. We assume no liability for discrepancies between a figure we publish and an actual offer.
Acceptable Use and Anti-Scraping Policy
The text we write — the analysis and the articles — is our copyright. The underlying facts are not. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive license to use the site for personal, non-commercial reading. You are strictly prohibited from utilizing automated scripts, bots, spiders, or data-mining tools to bulk-copy or republish the text we write. Quote it with attribution and a link.
Account-Free Reading
You do not need an account to read The Work State. To enforce our data minimization standards we deliberately do not require registration, and we keep no reading history and no profile of you on our servers. Anything the site stores in your browser is a local reading convenience: clearing your browser data, changing device or updating your software removes it, and we accept no liability for that client-side loss — it is the direct trade-off for an account-free site.
