You will spend your days locked inside SAP and massive Excel spreadsheets, chasing down domestic and international suppliers who missed their delivery windows. You must possess the administrative grit to untangle complex three-way matching errors, ensuring that the initial PO, the receiving warehouse dock, and the vendor’s invoice all perfectly align so Accounts Payable can release the funds.
Administrative Execution & Vendor Wrangling
- High-Volume PO Execution: Burn through hundreds of internal requisitions, converting them into legally binding Purchase Orders. You must ensure pricing and delivery terms are flawless before dispatching them to vendors.
- The Three-Way Match Crucible: Act as the detective for invoice discrepancies. When the vendor bills for 50 valves but the warehouse only received 48, you are responsible for investigating the shortage and holding the vendor accountable.
- Vendor Interrogation: Aggressively follow up on open POs. You cannot wait for a part to be late; you must proactively badger suppliers to confirm dispatch times and communicate inevitable delays to furious project managers.
- Master Data Governance: Maintain the vendor master files in the ERP. If a supplier’s banking details or tax forms are outdated, they don’t get paid, and they will cut off Halliburton’s supply lines.
Systems Fluency & Prerequisites
- The Corporate Scar Tissue: 2+ years of brutal administrative or Accounts Payable experience. If you haven’t survived a high-volume corporate environment, the sheer velocity of the energy sector will break you.
- SAP Literacy: You must know how to navigate a massive ERP system. Direct experience with SAP (specifically the Materials Management module) is heavily preferred, as training time is minimal.
- Spreadsheet Combat: Advanced Excel is non-negotiable. You must be able to deploy VLOOKUPs and pivot tables to reconcile massive inventory reports and identify missing line items instantly.
